JOB DESCRIPTION
We are seeking a highly analytical and motivated Life Sciences Consulting Analyst to support client engagements focused on the China and global biopharma and medical device landscape. This role combines research, insight generation, and strategic analysis to help clients understand clinical development trends, competitor activity, regulatory developments, and broader shifts across the healthcare ecosystem.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is passionate about life sciences, enjoys solving complex business questions, and wants to be part of building a growing international team in one of the world’s most important healthcare markets. The role will involve a mix of primary and secondary research, conference coverage, and content development in support of both client work and FENIX thought leadership.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Conduct primary and secondary research on life sciences companies, products, therapeutic areas, technologies, and market trends
• Monitor market developments relevant to client priorities, including competitor pipelines, clinical trials, regulatory milestones, launches, partnerships, licensing activity, pricing, and reimbursement
• Gather insights from public disclosures, subscription databases, scientific literature, conferences, industry events, and other relevant sources
• Support conference intelligence across pre-event planning, live coverage, insight capture, and post-event synthesis
• Produce clear deliverables, including company profiles, landscape assessments, trackers, newsletters, presentations, and strategic summaries
• Contribute to articles, short analyses, and other thought leadership on China’s biopharma, healthcare, and medical device sectors
• Represent FENIX professionally in external interactions, exercising sound judgment and discretion in gathering and synthesizing insights
QUALIFICATIONS
REQUIRED:
• Native-level Mandarin and strong spoken and written English
• Bachelor’s degree in life sciences or a related field
• Minimum of bachelors degree in life sciences, business, or related field
• Strong interest in the life sciences industry, including drug development, healthcare markets, and innovation trends
• Familiarity with one or more key therapeutic areas, such as oncology, diabetes, immunology, or neurology, as well as relevant modalities, such as cell therapy, antibody-drug conjugates, bispecific and multispecific antibodies, and peptide therapeutics
• Understanding of key aspects of China’s healthcare and regulatory environment, such as NMPA, NRDL, hospital access, volume-based procurement, and early clinical development pathways including IND and IIT
• Resourcefulness – the ability to independently search for an answer and ask for help when needed
• Strong attention to detail, intellectual curiosity, and comfort working in a fast-paced, client-service environment
• Willingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally as needed
• Existing authorization to work in China without sponsorship
PREFERRED:
• Advanced degree such as MSc, MPH, PharmD, MD, or PhD
• 1-3 years of experience in a consulting firm, pharmaceutical company, biotechnology company, medical device company, lab, healthcare insights agency, or related environment
• Experience supporting multinational pharmaceutical, biotech, or medical device clients operating in China
• Experience producing polished presentations, reports, or external-facing written content
• Exposure to scientific conferences, healthcare stakeholder research, or broader market intelligence work
