CNS Consulting Associate Director

JOB DESCRIPTION
Combining advanced life sciences and biopharma scientific knowledge, knowledge of consulting and primary competitive and market intelligence methodologies, tools and techniques, and knowledge of key issues and current developments in the pharmaceutical and healthcare industries as related to the Central Nervous System (CNS) and related segments, this position will take a leadership role within our CNS practice.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Principal activities and accountabilities will include:
• Managing client relationships and handling multiple CNS-related project needs. This will include, among other things, establishing regular contact with client teams and managing ad hoc requests, scheduling presentations and updates with clients for multiple projects, targeting development of project teams across all projects managed.
• Managing resource needs across all projects. This will include, among other things, identifying manpower budget needs based on project revenue and other pertinent factors, building project team comprised of consultants, analysts and others, coordinating with global affiliate on resource management, and conducting weekly or biweekly internal meetings to track project status.
• Training and Operations Management. This will include, among other things, training new and more junior consultants and analysts on various aspects of the job role, building training materials, and guiding employees on project deliverables.
• Proposal writing/new revenue generation. This will include, among other things, reviewing and analyzing Requests for Proposal from current and prospective clients, communicating target delivery dates, understanding project needs and developing background information, designing and structuring client proposal based on project schedule, etc., and consulting with Executive Management team on pricing and other pertinent factors.
• Business development. This will include, among other things, building internal capabilities by engaging resources in managed vertical, developing capabilities presentations/decks for use by business development team, identifying target clients and establishing contact for new revenue generation, and participating in client introductions and capabilities discussions.
Position based at Company HQ in Reading, Pennsylvania, with option to work approximately 80% from home office within the continental U.S. Approximately 10%-20% domestic and international travel required, primarily to attend conferences and industry events.
QUALIFICATIONS
Master’s degree in Biology, biotechnology, bioengineering or biomedical engineering; chemistry or chemical engineering; pharmacy, pharmaceuticals, pharmacology or pharmaceutical engineering; or similar life science or life science engineering field and 3 years of life science consulting and/or life science business intelligence experience (external and/or internal). The required experience must have included at least two years during which the job duties included:
• Conducting primary and secondary research related to the CNS segment, including conducting at least five primary research interviews.
• Within the CNS or a related segment, conducting in-depth market, industry and competitive research and analysis; preparation/delivery of briefings and presentations; and development of client specific solutions. This experience can have been gained either as an internal consultant within a pharmaceutical and/or medical device company, or as an external consultant working with client companies in the pharmaceutical and/or medical device industry.
• Analysis and interpretation of technical data; designing, structuring, and delivering reports and presentations incorporating qualitative and quantitative analyses of company-specific or product-specific solutions; and developing action items necessary to implement solutions.
• Serving in a supervisory or project management role with respect to projects in the CNS segment.
Will also accept a Bachelor’s degree in Biology, biotechnology, bioengineering or biomedical engineering; chemistry or chemical engineering; pharmacy, pharmaceuticals, pharmacology or pharmaceutical engineering; or similar life science or life science engineering field and 5 years of life science consulting and/or life science business intelligence experience (external and/or internal). The required experience must have included at least two years during which the job duties included:
